A term life insurance policy may offer the following benefits:
- Lump sum on death with a Beneficiary clause
- Funeral services
- Spouse Annuity
- Education allowance
These benefits are paid by insurance companies, personal protection institutions or mutuals.
Only assets under a personal protection policy following the insured’s death occurring on or after 1 January 2015 are deposited with the Caisse des Dépôts. If the insured is alive (on sick leave, disability leave or long-term care leave), the assets fall outside the scope of law no. 2014-617 of 13 June 2014 and are not therefore deposited with the Caisse des Dépôts.
